Ice Hockey Travels to Ivy League Member Yale for Weekend Series

BROOKVILLE, N.Y.- The Long Island University women's ice hockey team kicks off its first road trip of the season when the Sharks head to New Haven, Conn. to take on Yale on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

NOTES ON THE SHARKS
Last weekend, the Sharks hosted the reigning NCAA Division I Champions, the No. 1 University of Wisconsin Badgers. In the first game of the weekend, Carrigan Umpherville scored her second goal this season, while Grace Dima scored her first collegiate goal. Matilda af Bjur chipped in her second assist of the season. The Sharks hosted the Badgers at the Nassau Coliseum for game two to conclude the weekend against the nationally ranked team. In net, Mia McLeod made 64 saves across the two games against the Badgers. Kenzie Harmison made her first collegiate start in the first game against Wisconsin, and finished with 20 saves in the first period. She also made 20 saves against the Badgers in Saturday's game. Ava Bailey relieved McLoud in the second game, and made 14 saves against the Badgers.
 
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
The Yale University Bulldogs open its 2019-20 season on Friday against the Sharks. Last week, the Bulldogs beat McGill 4-2 in an exhibition game. Tabea Botthof, Claire Dalton, Rebecca Foggia and Grace Lee all scored in the exhibition. Tere Hofmann, Gianni Meloni, and Courtney DeNaut each spent time in net at had a combined 25 saves. The Bulldogs were predicted to finish eighth in the ECAC Coaches' preseason poll. 
 
Up Next
The Sharks open up New England Women's Hockey Alliance play next weekend when they head to Saint Michael's College for a two-day weekend series on November 1-2. Game one on November 1 is slated for 7:00 p.m.
