BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Long Island University men's soccer team will take to the road on Friday, Oct. 18 when they travel south to Teaneck, N.J. for a Northeast Conference match against Fairleigh Dickinson Univesity.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS (4-6-1, 1-1-1 NEC)
Despite a 2-1 setback against Merrimack College last Friday, the Sharks have earned four points in three conference games this season. The Sharks have had a slow conference schedule, playing the fewest number of games out of any NEC school through three weeks of conference play. LIU will play five NEC matches over the final three weeks of the regular season, giving them a chance to rise in the conference standings heading into the postseason.
Freshman forward
Papa Ndoye has been a spark on the offensive end, ranking sixth in the country in shots per game (4.11) and 15th nationally in shots on goal per game (1.89). His offensive prowess has led to a team-high four goals in eight starts.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS (5-5-2, 1-1-2 NEC)
FDU racked up four points in its last two NEC matches, playing to a scoreless draw with Sacred Heart University before downing Central Connecticut State University by a 5-1 final on Sunday. The Knights enter the matchup averaging 1.33 goals per game, while also allowing the same amount of goals per game on the defensive end.
Junior Diego Arribas leads the offensive attack for FDU, scoring six of the team's 16 goals on the year. Redshirt-senior Daniel Lasarte adds two goals and three assists while ranking second on the squad with 31 shot attempts.
In goal, junior Jahmali Waite leads all NEC goalkeepers with 985 minutes played in goal, compiling 40 saves and a 1.10 goals-against average.
