BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – LIU baseball finished its three-game series against Wagner on Saturday, falling to the Seahawks, 10-7. With the result, the Sharks eight game win streak is snapped, and their record moves to 23-12 and 8-4 in the Northeast Conference.
LIU led for almost the entirety of the game, but six runs in the ninth for Wagner proved to be too much to overcome in the ninth. Despite the defeat, the Sharks offense piled up seven runs on seven hits, including three players collecting two hits apiece.
Seth Surrett,
Michael Edelman, and
EJ Exposito finished 2-5, and Edelman connected on a towering solo homerun in the seventh. With the home run, Edelman now sits in third on the team with four.
Chris Buehler threw two effective innings in relief of
Ryan Neuweiler, finishing with two innings of work. Buehler allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out one.
The highest scoring inning came in the second when the Sharks tagged four on the board. Surrett had an RBI double, followed by RBI singles from Edelman and Exposito.
Giovanni Ciaccio hit a sacrifice fly to center, as well.
Up next, the Sharks hit the road for a non-conference battle with Siena College on Tuesday, April 19 at 3:00 p.m.
