Brooklyn, N.Y. - Long Island University women’s basketball head coach Gail Strielger announced the addition of Lisa Pace to the Blackbirds coaching staff. Pace, an accomplished recruiter, will work primarily with Long Island’s post players.
“We are excited for Lisa to join our staff,” Striegler said. “She is known for her recruiting, especially for her overseas and junior college connections. Lisa brings many years of coaching experience, including a pair of trips to the NCAA Tournament, and we look forward to her putting that experience to good use at LIU as we continue to grow as a program.”
Pace joins the Blackbirds, who appeared in the Northeast Conference championship game for the second time in three years last season, after spending a season as an assistant at Georgia State. Prior to her time with the Panthers, she spent the 2007-08 season at her alma mater, Eastern Kentucky. It was her second stint with the Lady Colonels after serving as a graduate assistant during the 1999-2000 campaign.
In between her stints at Eastern Kentucky, Pace spent seven successful seasons at Southeast Missouri State. She was the recruiting coordinator for a program that won back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference titles in 2006 and 2007, going undefeated in OVC play in the latter season.
Long Island went 22-10, finishing second in the league, during the 2009-10 campaign and advanced to the Northeast Conference championship game.
