Analda Clement was chosen as the 2010 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar for women’s bowling by
Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. A decorated student-athlete, Clement just completed her junior season with the Blackbirds and holds a 3.36 grade point average as a nursing major.
Clement was one of two women’s bowling athletes honored as Sports Scholars for 2010. The junior ranked fifth on the Blackbirds in frame average and improved her scoring average by 13 pins as a junior. She also played a key role in LIU’s win over third-ranked Delaware State at the Morgan State Collegiate Classic
Clement has also earned Northeast Conference Academic Honor Roll and Academic All-National Tenpin Coaches Association Team honors for her work in the classroom.
Diverse: Issues in Higher Education established the Sports Scholars Awards to honor undergraduate students of color who have achieved academic and athletic success. To be included, students have to compete in an intercollegiate sport; maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2; and active on their campuses or in their communities.
