Brooklyn, N.Y. – Long Island University head men’s soccer coach TJ Kostecky has announced the addition of six student-athletes to join the program for the 2010 season. Keenan Barr (Harrisburg, Pa.), Paul Boehme (Montclair, Va.), Ryan Hoffner (Akron, Ohio), Peter Inserillo (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.), Dillon Malke (Ovilla, Texas) and Brett Morrison (Rockledge, Fla.) will join Long Island on the field this upcoming season.
"We're excited with the group of men's soccer student-athletes that will be joining us for the 2010 season,” Kostecky said. “All six have demonstrated the right qualities of character, leadership, and a drive to achieve that will complement our returning players. We welcome them as a positive addition to our program.”
Barr was a standout central midfielder at Lancaster Catholic High School. As well as helping Lancaster to three straight league titles and district playoffs, Barr was a three-time first-team all-star and the Lancaster Lebanon League Most Valuable Player as a senior. Barr was a member of the PA Classics U18 U.S. Academy team.
Boehme is a multi-positional threat hailing from Forest Park High School in Woodbridge, Va. During his career, the four-year letterman was named All-Metropolitan Area and All-Prince William/Manassas County. Boehme is a longtime member of Virginia’s ODP program including captaining his European State team that traveled to Holland in 2006.
A 6-foot-2 goalkeeper, Hoffner compiled 25 shutouts in his three seasons in net at Revere High School in Richfield, Ohio. In his club soccer career, Hoffner was a state runner-up in 2004 with Everest SC and was a part of the National Academy League with the Cleveland Alliance Soccer Academy.
Inserillo is a versatile midfielder from Arlington High School. A captain as a senior, Inserillo has been a three-year member of the varsity squad.He can play anywhere in the center of the field and will provide speed and technical savvy from the wing position.
Malke is a midfielder from Red Oak High School where he was a four-year member of the varsity squad. Earning all-district honorable mention his first two seasons, Malke was a member of a regional semifinalist squad his junior season while being named All-District Second Team.
Morrison is a central midfielder hailing from Rockledge High School. A member of the Florida ODP program, he earned Cape Coast Honorable Mention in 2009 and First Team All-Cape Coast in 2010.
