ECAC All-Stars
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Junior
Bianca Mejia of the Long Island University softball team earned yet another postseason honor as she was named a member of the ECAC All-Star First Team as voted by regional coaches. Mejia led Long Island in nearly every offensive category en route to earning Northeast Conference Player of the Year honors.
Batting .392 with a .485 on-base percentage, the NEC’s First Team shortstop was Long Island’s catalyst at the top of the lineup all season. Her 12 homers and school-record 20 doubles led the Blackbirds while offering stellar defense in the hole all season. Mejia smacked a game-tying homer against UMass to help launch the Blackbirds to their first career win in an NCAA Regional Opener on May 21.
In just two years at Long Island, Mejia ranks in the top-10 all-time in double, homer, slugging and on-base percentage. Last season she was named National Fastpitch Coaches Assocation Third Team All-America.
