Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Long Island University Men’s Soccer team participated in a “A Fun Evening of Soccer” at the Ronald McDonald House of New York on Saturday, Dec. 5, in New York City. Several members of the team traveled to the 73rd Street location of the Ronald McDonald House for the event.

The highlight of the evening was a soccer-related trivia game between the Blackbirds and the Ronald McDonald children. The event was sponsored by Come Laugh LLC, a comedy-centered program that teaches comedy to children, and its founder, Maggie Hess.

Freshman Josef Hess has participated in previous volunteer programs at the Ronald McDonald House.

“Seeing those kids’ faces when they laughed out loud was just the greatest feeling for all of us,” Hess said.

Ronald McDonald House provides low-cost, temporary housing in a supportive environment for pediatric cancer patients and their families during treatment. Many of these families have traveled far from home to reach the best possible medical care, usually in large cities where traditional lodging may not be affordable. Ronald McDonald House of New York is located in Manhattan, near 12 major cancer-treatment facilities, and is the largest such facility in the world.
