2010 Lacrosse Schedule
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Long Island University women’s lacrosse head coach
Heather Levins announced the 2010 schedule today, with 15 contests on the docket. The Blackbirds open the season at home on Sunday, March 28, against Saint Mary's at LIU Field.
LIU will face a pair of Philadelphia based schools in non-conference action following the season-opener. The Blackbirds travel to Drexel on March 3, before coming back home to host Villanova on March 7. Long Island will then embark on a five-game road swing beginning at Iona on March 10. Following a Spring Break trip to Florida to face Jacksonville on March 16, LIU will open Northeast Conference action at Robert Morris and Saint Francis (Pa.) on March 19 and 21, respectively.
The Blackbirds round out the season playing six of their final eight games at home. Quinnipiac and Sacred Heart will come to Brooklyn for NEC matches on March 26 and 28, before LIU plays its final two road games at Bryant and Central Connecticut State on April 1 and 3.
Long Island will wrap up the regular season with four home contests. An NEC matchup with Wagner on April 9 will be followed by a non-league contest against Manhattan on April 13. The Blackbirds will conclude the season against Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's on April 16 and 18, respectively.
The NEC Tournament will be hosted by the regular-season champion on April 23 and 25.
In her second season as head coach Levins will welcome back five of the Blackbirds' top six scorers from last year as LIU looks to make its first NEC Tournament appearance.
Long Island will continue its fall season with a contest at Iona on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 2:00 p.m.
